EQQO (the name & # 39; echo & # 39;) is a touch-based puzzle game where you take on the role of an invisible narrator, guiding his blind son to a sacred land filled with ancient temples, traps, and mysterious creatures. The game offers several options for its game, and you can mix-and-match the game. Arguably at its best in hand-held mode, the game lets you play using a combination of touchscreen controls, gyro controls, and good old fashion moves. Our preferred approach is to use the touchscreen perfectly, since you can easily move the in-game camera with a quick swipe while touching active objects within the environment.
Your goal on EQQO is not immediately clear. You will start at a seemingly computer-free, blue-and-green sky, full of dead trees and ancient ruins. In the end, you will find a dead snake god who gives you a big egg, and then it is your job to hatch the egg and keep it safe from any danger. It is not long before you find a large network of temples, and it is here that the game really spreads its wings, providing you with a multitude of puzzles that, although not too difficult, are usually quite smart.
To control the game follower, you have the skills that EQQO itself can hope to possess. Using a touchscreen, you can take things like stones and spears, turn into cranks on a low bridge, pull chains to open wide gates, and more. The game is presented with pre-determined camera angles, and as you can see the environment, many angles are available to you with bright stars, allowing you to switch between them at will. Using all of the camera angles is important for completing puzzles, and you'll have to switch between them often, especially during times when EQQO leaves an egg behind.
For the most part, EQQO will be wholly owned. As you progress through the game, creatures known as the Shadows climb up and hatch an egg immediately. Usually, you'll need to steer EQQO away from the egg in order to open some path, but in doing so, you'll leave the egg vulnerable, allowing the Shadows to descend into it. In cases like this, you'll need to change the look between the EQQO and the egg immediately, pick up the stones to toss them in the progressive Shadows to keep them in place, while steering the EQQO in the right direction.
We were surprised by the EQQO. After a weak opening session, most of the game proves to be a puzzle title with a wonderfully purposeful narrative to support. If after a challenge, you might want to look elsewhere, but for the price of it, EQQO is a beautiful, relaxing feeling that will keep you playing until the end.
