A The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild player has found a unnecessarily difficult but commendable way to unlock the first Kolog on the Great Plateau. Typically, players would collect the Kolog seed walking towards the characteristic ring of water lilies and jumping on them from a nearby ledge. In true Breath of the Wild style, someone discovered a much more fun and challenging approach.
And the game broke new ground by offering players Seemingly unlimited options to solve puzzles and face challenges. It wasn’t long before people turned that into a game of “who can find the most ridiculous and complex ways to complete the game.” The 900 seeds in BOTW offer many opportunities to do just that.
The Twitter and YouTube user Pheasant_of_Hyrule published a method to discover a Kolog full of parkour and Bokoblin crush on November 7, 2024, more than seven years after the game’s release. Instead of jumping off the edge of the pond like Nintendo would probably want people to do, the user performs an entirely different strategy.

Lure a Bokoblin near the base of the Temple of Time. He then bounces the shield against the monster, killing it and sending Link flying. Once in the air, the player flies to the circle of lily pads, diving down and unlocking the seed.
Definitely not the easiest way to get the first of the 18 Great Plateau seeds, but it may be the most stylish.
People keep finding new tips and tricks for Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Even though the game is several years old, Breath of the Wild players continue to discover new ways to play it. A fan found a bug that makes BOTW’s most powerful weapon unbreakable. On the other hand, players like Pheasant_of_Hyrule prove that humanity has not yet exhausted all ways to unlock Kolog seeds.
And while some may prefer to move on to Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom at this point, others are perfectly satisfied finding new and exciting ways to break the game.
BOTW’s open field format was a big risk for the Zelda serieswhich had a long reputation for following the same formula before the Switch arrived. It’s certainly been worth it, as fans can return to the game year after year and still not play it the same way twice.
There are rumors that the franchise will move away from the BOTW gameplay structure in future installments, so it will be interesting to see how that impacts the title’s replayability. When the next game in the series arrives and whatever that entails, there’s a good chance that fans will continue discovering more about Breath of the Wild and its sequel.
