You may remember that yesterday Nintendo announced that Splatoon 3 would be getting a brand new update later today. They also released patch notes for the update in advance, which is something Nintendo likes to do often with Splatoon 3 updates.
Well, as promised, Nintendo has officially released the update. After you update the game, Splatoon 3 should now be on version 7.0.0. The Side Order DLC is also available to play. If you missed seeing the update patch notes when they were released yesterday, you can see them for yourself below.
Changes in DLC
- Added support for Side Order DLC.
- Players who bought Splatoon 3: Expansion Pass – Inkopolis & Side Order DLC you can start the Side Order story by heading towards Inkopolis Square from the train station in the square.
Season and catalog changes
- On March 1, 2024, information related to Fresh Season 2024 was added to the game. This includes:
- New catalog, including new gear, titles, banners, decorations, stickers and emotes.
- 153 pieces of equipment have been added to product lineups in the store.
- 1 new battle stage: Marlin Airport.
- 2 new main weapons.
- 9 new sets of existing main weapons paired with different secondary and special weapons.
- New Salmon Run stage: Bonerattle Arena.
- 20 new battle cards for Tableturf.
Gear changes
- Added new ways to adjust gear.
- This applies to certain glasses, visors, hoodies, sweaters, layered T-shirts and shoes with socks.
- Select any supported equipment from the equipment screen and press the Y button to customize it.
- It is now possible to adjust equipment for certain hats, as well as shirts that previously did not have the ability to adjust equipment, such as Splatfest shirts.
Changes to the multiplayer game
- Added 2 songs to play during battles.
- These songs will be played from the beginning of the new season in 2024.
- New main weapons have been added.
- This weapon will be available in stores at the beginning of the 2024 fresh season.

- Added dedicated poses to the Reppin’ Inkopolis emote for when the player equips duals, brellas, stringers, or splats.
Changes to Splatfests
- Players can now use the new Fizzbangs in Splatfest Battles and Tricolor Battles.
- Press the A button (or the L button) to throw the Fizzbang. It will shoot fireworks where it lands to color the ground and deal a small amount of damage to enemies.
- Fizzbangs are earned when landing on a stage from a spawner and when a player defeats an opponent. The number of Fizzbangs gained in these moments increases as the time remaining in the battle decreases.
- You can have up to seven Fizzbangs.
- The points earned by each division during the final results have been adjusted, and the second place team in each division will also now earn points.

- The matchup method for Splatfest Battle (open) has been adjusted to improve matchup efficiency for two-player groups.
Changes to Salmon Run
- Added tradeable items for fish scales.
- The specifications for some special weapons have changed.

- Reduced the frequency of animation updates for distant Salmonids when there is a large total number of Salmonids on stage to reduce the frequency of game slowdown.
Changes to Tableturf Battle
- Added more summonable characters to Tableturf Battle Dojo.
- In order to summon new characters, players must download the Side Order DLC and progress through the s tory.
- Added seven selectable stages for battles against other players.
- Added a Randomization feature that will move the cursor to a random stage when selecting a stage for battles against other players.
- You can use it by pressing the Y button on the stage select screen.
- Changed the stage used by Spyke to the Tableturf Battle Dojo.
- The number of decks that players can save has been increased from 16 to 32.
Changes to SplatNet 3
- Added Side Order Statistic feature.
- Added Journey 5 to Wandercrust.
- Players will be able to support Journey 5 after completing Journeys 1 to 4.
- Trip 5 can only be supported by points earned by dyeing the grass from the 2024 fresh season onwards.
Changes in the tournament manager
- From Fresh Season 2024 onwards, players will be able to receive a food ticket when participating in tournaments held with the Tournament Manager.
- Players can get their ticket from the terminal in the lobby after participating in the tournament.
- Players who withdraw from the tournament or are disqualified will not be able to receive a ticket.
- Players can get one ticket per season.
- Added badges that directors and co-directors who complete tournaments using the Tournament Manager will be able to get soup! to the total number of tournament participants.
- Participation in tournaments completed before the application of this updated data will also be counted.
- Added option to prevent stage reuse in battle settings.
- When this option is enabled, random stages will automatically be removed from the random stage pool after the battle in that stage is over.
- Stages will not be removed if the battle is stopped.
This update focuses on Side Order DLC support as well as feature additions, changes to Splatfest, and multiplayer tweaks for Fresh Season 2024, which releases in March.
For multiplayer, we’ve added new main weapons and tweaked some main weapons to make them easier to handle for players who use them frequently.
Our next update is scheduled for the middle of the 2024 Fresh Season and should focus on balance adjustments.
