Nioh 2 and Dead or Alive 5 are well regarded, and Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound also looks like a very good game. They also did Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty which was a lot of fun and Rise of the Ronin was pretty good too.
It was a bit difficult, but they got back on their feet and are doing well.
The only time I felt they really dropped the ball was with Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection.
Lots of issues (performance in Razor's Edge can be pretty suspect as some parts have VERY poor resolution), missing features, lack of simple QoL stuff they could have added, etc. I feel like it was just an easy cash grab with almost zero effort put into these connections.
Ninja Gaiden deserved better than that vv
A better question is: Has Itagaki done anything big since he left?
And unfortunately for his fans, the answer is a big, fat NO! Only 2 games in 17 years and one was a colossal failure and the other was ok at best…
