I was a very happy boy this Christmas and picked up some new games that were on my to play list cubs. In the following days I played (and prepare fairies) Stardew Valley and Celeste for the first time. Yes, I should have played years ago, but I didn’t. I’m sorry. But now I play them! And they are really good!
I also got Eastward, which I haven’t had a chance to play yet, but I’m hoping to spend some time with it over the weekend — that pixel art is really something else, huh?

I bought Persona 3 Portable on a New Years sale, hooray! I tried it a few months ago on Xbox Game Pass, but it didn’t feel right playing it on the TV. ‘Portable’ is in the name, of course, so it feels great to play it on Switch via handheld mode.
Annnd… That’s it! I’ll try to clean up a few games I didn’t get around to finishing in 2023 in the coming weeks, since there isn’t much on the horizon that I’m particularly excited about. Sigh… Where’s the Switch 2 when you need it?

Happy New Year people! I hope your holidays were fun and relaxing. I don’t make New Year’s resolutions, but this year I want to fill in some gaps in my RPG knowledge and go back and revisit some old favorites. Games don’t always have to be about new things! We start with the SNES classic, Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals. I don’t know why I haven’t played this one, but it’s time to rectify that.
I partner and I also played Moon: Remix RPG Adventure and oh my gosh it’s weird and I love it. On the more modern side, I picked up a few games over the holidays on the eShop, so I’ll have a go at Iconoclasts as well. Busy busy!

New year, new me or something. First and foremost, back to Fitness Boxing Fist of the Northstar and Ring Fit Adventure, it’s time to get ready for winter. Rounding up some of the best games from last year that I missed, this weekend I get to explore Dredge and COCOON along with the nostalgia of Jurassic Park: Classic Games Collection. The recent delay of the R-Type Tactics I • II Cosmos announcement made me grab my trusty PSP and start the first game’s campaign.
It’s the game of the week Dragon’s Crown. I love Vanillaware games so I’m always hoping to see more of them come to the Switch. Since I had given up hope that they would ever do this, I went back to my PS3 playing this gem. I’m also kind of missing the Wii’s Muramasa: The Demon Blade… there’s always next weekend!

I’m still playing Apollo Justice. But it’s progressing well! So my last WAYP from 2023 still stands, as I haven’t had a chance to touch any yet.
I did buy the new game (on Steam) though, because Katharine Castle from RPS recommended it, and her taste in the game is very similar to mine, saying that “the perfect warm-up for Apollo Justice“, which was all I needed to hear. It’s called Makoto Wakaido’s Case Files Trilogy, and yes! It’s on Switch! I haven’t started it yet, so I don’t know if it’s good, but I bet it is.
That’s what we have planned for the weekend, what about you? Take the following poll with the game you’ll be running over the next few days, then slide into the comments to tell us what other titles are on the cards.
