Saved data for this software does not support "moving user" or "moving stored data". Please note that when you purchase a "second unit", you cannot transfer the original island data to another unit.

Obviously, if you've played Animal Crossing game in the past, you'll know that it requires a lot of your time. So if this is technically true – it means you can't move your backup file to new programs.
Fingerprints in this case aren't always the same, and nothing else protects your backup file. Nintendo has already assured you that the upcoming next-generation rollout will not be compatible with cloud backups either, to avoid wasting time.
