There are games that we never fully get on our radar due to countless circumstances. And one of them is that we couldn’t test it before because the platform it is available on is completely foreign to us. And that could be the case, perfectly, of EXPIATED Heart of the Elder Tree which can only be enjoyed through Apple Arcade on iPhone, iPad or Mac devices.

EXPIATED Heart of the Elder Tree It is a title which, as we told you, is currently only available on Apple Arcade so if you don’t have one of these devices you won’t be able to enjoy it. Now the big news that has changed in the last few hours is that its developer, Wildboy Studios, has announced the arrival of its little masterpiece on new platforms.
And it’s that one of the things that those of us who run away (from time to time) from the omnivorous power of AAA in this video game, are original ideas, at least special, which deviate from fashion and bet on different proposals. This is the case of this title which takes a good part of this so fashionable Nordic mythology and transforms it into an adventure where two very specific elements shine: the puzzles and the combat system.
But before explaining how to play it, we’ll remind you that EXPIATED Heart of the Elder Tree It will also come to PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on January 27, 2023, initially to be present on practically all known video game systems (except Xbox, for now).
Solve puzzles and fight… to the beat
That’s pretty much the summary of it EXPIATED Heart of the Elder Tree which advocates three main pillars. On the one hand, its graphic aspect, which jumps out at us because of this schematism which seems to inherit an appearance which combines the simplicity of the old Atari 2600 games -in many of its tests-, with a really attractive and modern design full of elongated shapes and flat colors. In addition to this, it is able to challenge us with a story where two great elements stand out: puzzles and combat.
The first are puzzles that we must solve as logically as possible, although in some cases it will be necessary to have an object such as a key and even a potion. So, by solving these small challenges, we move forward in history
These won’t need turn-based duels, or precise dodging and slamming moves at the enemy, but rather take on a much more fun form typical of musical games where you have to press the button at a specific time, as if it were a melody that you play on a guitar. Sounds weird…until you try it and see how resolved they are.
With all of the above, plus dialogues with a multitude of characters, make this EXPIATED Heart of the Elder Tree to become an enjoyable adventure where Midgard takes center stage of a world infested with beasts that must be cleaned up. A game that, as we told you, will move from Apple Arcade to the rest of the world at the end of January.
