On May 30, 2024, Sony gave PlayStation fans a short but substantial presentation of some of the games coming soon. Some of these titles are expected to come to PS5 (and PC) later this year, while others probably won’t arrive until next year.
So let’s dive into everything Sony showed off today.
Unity
Unitythe upcoming online first-person shooter, made its debut today, putting a focus on its unique characters as well as in-engine gameplay. It definitely brings fun, sci-fi and Marvel-esque vibes to my ears and eyes. Unity will be released on August 23, 2024.
God of War Ragnarok will be released on September 19, 2024 for PC
God of War Ragnarok is coming to PC! I’m sure you’ve already guessed this, but we’ve seen Papa Kratos smashing bad guys, with some previews of the PC features, like ultrawide support and all the important super sampling technologies, and it comes with the great Valhalla Also DLC! Kratos’ latest adventure will be released on PC on September 19, 2024.
Origins of Dynasty Warriors
With epic close combat weapon battles against a huge number of enemies, Origins of Dynasty Warriors looks like everything is geared towards a completely unrealistic but absolutely tough fight.
Infinity Nikki
Are you ready to follow the path of a stylist? This is what Infinity Nikki promises to feature cute outfits, fantasy views, platform gameplay, and the ability to shoot little cats out of cannons!
Ballad of Antara
Featuring moody color themes, epic dark fantasy vibes, and some very satisfying melee weapon sound effects, Ballad of Antara is definitely worth a look if you like brawling against mythical creatures in a magical realm. Ballad of Antara is expected to arrive in 2025.
Skydance’s monster
Hey, remember PS VR2? Sorry, but hey, it’s nice to see some new games coming out for Sony’s somewhat struggling headset. With first-person sword fighting and some neat mechanics involving a rope weapon that lets you pull enemies and weapons around, this could prove to be a very satisfying VR experience.
Invasion of alien villains
Invasion of alien villains aims to bring its HR Giger-inspired horror vibe to a PlayStation VR headset near you… you know, when you feel like you’re not going to die of fear.
Marvel Rivals
It’s like third person Overwatch but you know, with a Marvel license or something! Jokes aside, Rivals is perhaps notable for its third-person action and good use of the source material.
Where winds meet
With a trailer that focuses on some exciting and fast-paced one-on-one showdowns, Where winds meet is currently in development for PS5.
Until dawn
Supermassive’s 2015 interactive teen horror film is being re-developed and updated for current hardware. Until dawnIn the PS5 and PC trailer at this month’s State of Play, there was no shortage of gruesome contraptions and hellish ways to see characters murdered.
Path of Exile 2
Grinding Gear Games Path of Exile 2 is set to release on PS5 in 2024. Players will be transported to a dark fantasy world plagued by monsters and disease. They must take on the role of fearless warriors seeking victory and, of course, ever better loot. Keep an eye on this game if Diablo4
Silent Hill 2
Today we took a closer look at the upcoming remake of the horror classic Silent Hill 2. Complete with a very Resident Evil 4-inspired camerawork and gruesome beasts. Time will tell if this remake lives up to the hype when it launches on October 8, 2024.
Monster Hunter World
Finally we have a real look at the next entry in the popular Monster Hunter franchise. Yes, there are cute Palicos as well as menacing beasts. Tonight’s trailer also showed off some of the game’s world, which features sandstorms and plenty of open space to fight creatures on the back of a bird. The game is expected to be released in 2025.
Astro Bot
I hope you are not tired of our buddy Astro yet! It looks much more sophisticated and elaborate than the adorable PS5 pack-in game Astros Playroom and it’s packed with cameos from across PlayStation history to whet your brand nostalgia. It definitely looks like it’s going to grow beyond novelty status and become something pretty interesting. Astro Bot arrives on September 6th.
