Amazon Prime Day 2023 takes place on July 11-12, but there are already some solid early Prime Day deals, including invite-only deals on some of Amazon’s Fire TVs and more. Once the big day arrives, Polygon collects the best deals on games, accessories, toys, and other related nerd goods you can find on Amazon and competing retailers.
However, if you’re more interested in finding the best deals yourself, there are some excellent tools you can use to keep an eye on price drops. Below we’ve featured some of our favorite free apps, along with some helpful strategies to make sure you don’t miss out on discounts on your favorite products.
Track Prime Day price drops with these tools
CamelCamelCamel
CamelCamelCamel, strange as the name may be, remains one of the best tools for tracking price changes and history for products specifically on Amazon. While you don’t need an account to view the pricing information available through the app, creating a profile allows you to set up watch lists and receive email price alerts for your favorite products. You are welcome to fill your own watch list manually, but you can also import any existing Amazon wish list into your CamelCamelCamel profile using the app.
However, CamelCamelCamel and the Camelizer browser extension linked to it only provide information for products on Amazon. So you’ll need other tools if you’re shopping at Best Buy, Target, GameStop, or elsewhere during Prime Day.
Hold
Finally, we have the Keepa extension, which isn’t too different from CamelCamelCamel. You can use it to import your Amazon Wishlist and track prices for specific products. While Keepa only tracks price history for Amazon products, its extension automatically populates almost every product page with a detailed chart of price fluctuations over a set period of time. When you open the Track Product tab, you can set up alerts to notify you when a product meets or falls below a certain price, similar to other tracking tools.
Honey
Honey and its extension allow you to track price history changes for specific products, but across a range of retailers, not just Amazon. As an added bonus, Honey also automatically checks for promotional codes when you checkout at a supported retailer.
While setting up a H oney account does not allow you to import existing Wishlists from other retailers, the Smart Droplist feature automatically populates your Droplist with items in your Amazon “Saved for Later” cart and also tracks the price of frequently viewed items Items at certain retailers. Just make sure you turn this feature on if you want to take advantage.
slick deals
If you prefer a more hands-on approach when looking for deals, at Slickdeals you’ll find a regularly updated collection of some of the best discounts on a variety of products, verified by the site’s user community. While you don’t have the ability to track prices for specific products, you can set up alerts for deals that match specific keywords or are popular with Slickdeals users. Slickdeals is a great way to browse trending deals across broad categories without having to set up alerts or even create an account.
Let Alexa remind you
Prime members who own an Echo smart speaker can sign up to receive offer alerts on specific products up to 24 hours before going live. The Alexa app can notify you of price reductions on eligible products that you have in your shopping cart, on your wish list, or have saved for later.
To enable this feature, go to the Notifications menu under Settings in your Alexa mobile app and open Amazon Shopping. From the Amazon Shopping menu, scroll down to ‘Shopping Suggestions’ and turn on ‘Best Deals’. Please note that if you enable this feature, Alexa will not notify you when a product goes on sale. You’ll still get a yellow notification ring on your Echo devices, as well as a notification on your mobile device.
Be sure to check out the invitation-only offers
As we mentioned earlier in this post, Amazon has already provided some excellent Prime Day deals on some Fire TVs and other products, but there’s a catch with some. One has to be invited first, but to be fair it’s less of an invitation and more of a request. Simply find a participating product and click Request Invitation. If Amazon is able to fulfill your order, you’ll receive an email notification on Prime Day with instructions on how to pay with your exclusive swag. The number of invitation-only deals is fairly limited right now, but that could change as Prime Day approaches.
Prime Day isn’t just for Amazon anymore
In case Amazon didn’t discount a particular product you were looking for, you might want to see what deals are available at other retailers. Rest assured there will be plenty of other stores vying for your attention around July 11th and while they may not be offering drastically lower prices, retailers like it best buy, WalmartAnd Goal All have price adjustment policies that may match those on Amazon.
