The “Starcrossed” mission is new to Destiny 2: Season of Wishing. It functions similarly to the “Avalon” mission from earlier this year and “Operation: Seraph Shield” from Season of the Seraph, in that they are short inserts that offer a powerful weapon and some secrets to discover each week .
In Starcrossed, you venture into the Black Garden with Riven and Crow to face an army of Vex. Your reward? The new Beach Exotic bow: Wish keeper – capable of deploying a suspending trap after enough kills or precision hits have been achieved.
In this Destiny 2 In this guide we will show you how to complete the Starcrossed mission and find the secret chest.
How to beat the Starcrossed exotic mission in Destiny 2
Starcrossed is essentially just a straight line with a few stops along the mission. Therefore, this guide focuses less on where to go and more on how the mission’s three main mechanics work: Father’s obligation, Mother’s giftAnd Crowned by dragons. Let’s break it down.
Father’s obligation
Your first big mechanic, which you get right before the first big encounter, is what’s called a buff Father’s obligation. You can get it by standing in a blue pond that appears in some flowers next to a locked gate. It lasts forever while you stand in the pool, but only 45 seconds when you leave it.
Sire’s Obligation allows you to cause damage Hardened enemies and enables you see the Last Wish symbols. Use the buff to defeat the first Obdurate Phalanx and open the door.
You will put Sire’s Obligation into practice in the first encounter. Get the buff from one of the pools and look at the gate at the end of the arena. You will see three symbols in random order. You’ll need to check the order yourself each time, but for this guide we’ll use this order as an example: Dragon, Fish, Bird.
Now run around the arena with your buff (be sure to renew it if you run out of time) and keep an eye out for Obdurate Phalanx enemies. There are three of them, each under one of the three symbols you saw on the door. Defeat them in the order of the combination at the door (in this example, dragon, fish, bird) and you open the path. Defeat them in the wrong order and they will all respawn.
Mother’s gift
Mother’s gift is the second mechanic in this mission and comes from a red puddle that appears from certain flowerbeds. It lasts the same amount of time as Sire’s Obligation.
You can go in with Dam’s Gift orange mist, which you first encounter just before the first red flower bed. Without Dam’s Poison, you take damage in the mist and gain this Unwanted debuff, which will eventually kill you. However, as long as you keep Dam’s Gift, you’ll be safe in the Mist.
After running through the first mist, you will need to use Dam’s Gift to complete the second encounter. In a small arena you will find a red puddle and three corridors covered in orange mist: left, right and center. Use Dam’s Gift to go down each of these paths and kill him quickly Gatekeeper Wyvernis in there. Once the wyvern is dead, a shield above you will disappear Vex nodethat you can interact with.
Repeat this process until you have killed three Gatekeeper Wyverns and interacted with all three nodes in the arena to complete the challenge.
Crowned by dragons
At the end of the mission you will have to combine these two buffs. When you enter the next arena, go left to get the Father’s Obligation and right to get the Mother’s Gift. Once you have both, the buff turns into a single buff: Crowned by dragons.
While crowned by dragons, you can see symbols, deal damage to enemies with Obdurate, and traverse the orange mist. Going through either buff will extend Crowned by Dragons back to 45 seconds.
With Crowned by Dragons in hand, look at the large door in the middle of the room to get your lock combination. Then run around the room killing the Obdurate enemies in the correct order. There is one Obdurate opponent in the main room and one in each of the two wings of the arena. To get to the wings you have to go through the orange mist. So make sure you never lose Crowned by Dragons.
How to beat Akardon, the Merciless Spirit in Destiny 2
Once you open the door, head to the final boss, a giant Vex Hydra: Akardon, merciless spirit. You can deal damage to the boss from the start of the fight as long as you have Crowned by Dragons. However, you’ll have a much easier time killing the boss if you remove his rotating shield, which tends to block a lot of incoming damage if you don’t time your shots well.
To do this, use Crowned by Dragons to kill both of them Merciless companion Phalanx Enemies in the room with the Hydra. Once both are dead, the boss loses his shield and begins spawning Taken enemies. Kill it quickly and then go to the treasure room to complete the mission.
Destiny 2 “Starcrossed” secret chest location
When you first start Starcrossed, you’ll find yourself in an area with a large chasm and need to jump over some plant leaves. The first part of this area is fairly open, but at some point you’ll need to turn right and walk across a massive branch that will lead you to a narrow opening and the rest of the mission.
As soon as you turn around and hit the large branch, stop. Instead of moving on, look down and around you. You’ll find a ledge that leads into a small alcove.
Head down into this small area and you’ll find a Dreaming City chest nestled against the wall. Open it for one Weapon of the Season of the Undying.
If you’re struggling with this chest, I recommend placement Wombo detector Ghost Shell mod activated, allowing you to discover nearby treasure chests and resources.
