3 body problem is already shaping up to be one of the biggest Netflix shows of all time and the new trailer is fittingly epic. The trailer, released Tuesday at the Consumer Electronics Show, gives us our best look yet at the series and illuminates the plot for those who haven’t yet read the books it’s based on.
The trailer explains the variety of competing crime stories in the series. There’s a countdown clock shown to certain people, a series of murders against the world’s best scientists, and a virtual reality game tied to what’s happening. Added to this is an unknown force that is taking its toll on the entire planet.
The series was created by game of Thrones Creators David Benioff and DB Weiss as well as Alexander Woo. The show also features stars like Benedict Wong and Eiza Gonzalez game of Throness veterans like John Bradley, Jonathan Pryce and Liam Cunningham. The series is set to debut on Netflix on March 21st.
The series is based on The three-body problem, a novel by Liu Cixin originally published in China in 2008. The book eventually made its way to the United States and won the 2015 Hugo Award for Best Novel. The novel is the first entry in Cixin’s Remembrance of Earth’s Past series, which includes three books in total.
