We’ve all been there before waiting to collect something free on a mobile game in exchange for seeing an advertisement for another mobile game. This is usually an opportunity to stretch out or have a drink, but some ads are just so crazy that you can’t help but see them when they pop up in the rotation.
Last year a mobile game was called Lily garden the world tied up with nonsensical, story-based ads that had nothing to do with the game itself. And while paying attention to Lily garden has subsided, a new game is ready to take its place: Merge mansion, from the Finnish studio Metacore Games.
Merge mansion, like Lily garden before that is a simple mobile game, this time about cleaning a huge house. It also has some of the strangest ads you will see on your phone, all of which concern a woman and her grandma. David Harmon on Twitter provided the most complete picture yesterday.
The young woman is obviously having a tough day. She comes home alone, distraught and in her wedding dress. But that is only the beginning of their misfortune, because their house was also destroyed in a fire. Since she has nowhere else to go, she contacts her grandma, who invites the woman to move into a huge mansion as long as she helps with the renovation.

Everything seems to be fine until one day the grandma is arrested. Before the police drive her away, the old lady manages to send her granddaughter one last message from the back of the patrol car:
“Experienced.”
Wait what Her lover? Are we supposed to assume he’s dead and didn’t just leave her at the altar or something?
Again, exactly how Lily garden, There are a few Merge mansion Ads circulating on the internet, each one with more questions than answers.
Take this for example. It repeats the scene in which Grandma is torn away by the fluff, but replaces her original message with something much more sinister:
“You are the next one.”
Oh shit, grandma! Sorry for cleaning your house!
Another ad seems to continue the story, showing that the woman somehow believes that her grandma is innocent despite everything that has happened.
And of course, some of the ads are just utter nonsense.
Here’s one where the woman matches her grandma on a dating app and they both seem kind of into it.
Another is all about a woman banging a guy in a bush.
And then we seem to get a glimpse of an alternate reality where grandma ignores her granddaughter instead of taking her in.
Just for shit and giggles, here’s the officer Merge mansion Entry in the Google Play Store says about the game:
Maddie’s grandmother has something to talk about. This mansion is full of stories that have never been heard before! Help Maddie find out what grandma has to say about the family’s adventurous past.
Wipe off the dust and find new items, merge them into useful tools and earn surprising treasures. You never know what to expect around the next corner of the villa.
Let the mysterious adventure begin! Do a complete home makeover, decorate your house the way you always wanted it to be. Unlock new areas inside and around the mansion, revealing decades-old family secrets. With a rich combination of items to discover and hundreds of exciting puzzles to solve, the mansion ensures that new secrets are always waiting for you.
Oh sure, that total comes through loud and clear in these ridiculous ads. But then again Merge mansion Without them, it probably wouldn’t have caught the attention it has. The mobile game market is undoubtedly a scary, cutthroat place, so I can’t blame the developers for doing anything to differentiate themselves.
