The new season of Apex Legends is only a few days away, which means that the launch of the game’s new legend, Valkyrie, is not far off either. The High-Flying Legend has a supreme jetpack, missiles, and rotation abilities that he will bring to the Apex Games on May 4 and, as players may have noticed by now, he has some strong connections to the great Titanfall universe. To give players a preview of what he’s capable of prior to his arrival, Respawn Entertainment released a video showcasing his abilities this week.
The following video shows a sample of what Valkyrie can do, but does not go into detail about everything she is capable of:

- Passive Ability: VTOL Jets
- Use jetpack to fly. Fuel is limited, but refills over time.
- Tactical Ability: Missile Swarm
- Fire a swarm of mini-rockets that damage and disorient the enemy.
- Ultimate Skill: Sky Dive
- Take to the air and dive into the sky. Allies can connect to takeoff systems to join you.
Its passive jetpack takes a little while to refuel after landing, but it will take you much higher than you expect if you use a full tank continuously. One of the most important caveats to keep in mind regarding this ability is that you cannot use your weapons while actively using the jetpack. If you drop the fuel and transition into a free fall, there is a brief moment when you can’t use your weapons, so don’t plan on spraying people from above. However, you can use your tactical ability in the air.
Valkyrie actually has two other Passives that are not mentioned in her character breakdown. Being a Recon character, he can interact with Survey Beacons just like Pathfinder and others. The most impressive move he has to be omitted from the fight is his enhanced vision that he accesses when thrown to the ground. If an enemy is in her uninterrupted line of sight when she descends from her ultimate, a jump tower, or anything else that causes you to enter the dive animation, the enemies reveal themselves to her and her team. However, this doesn’t work if they’re in buildings, so you don’t get an omnipotent view of where everyone is.
His tactical ability is exactly what it sounds like. It covers a large area of effect, so if you’re outdoors and she’s shooting at you, you’ll probably get hit. It doesn’t do a critical amount of damage, but has a useful stun effect that was described to us as an Arc Star, but to a lesser degree.
Valkyrie’s Ultimate is again pretty self explanatory. After a brief moment of preparation, Valkyrie stands still and waits for her teammates to buckle up if they wish. Then she and whoever is on board ascend into the sky and redeploy. Valkyrie acts as the Jumpmaster and gets her vision enhanced, though teammates can part ways with her if they wish.
The new Legacy season of Apex Legends will launch on May 4, so expect to see a lot of people using Valkyrie when it does.
