Colleen O’Shaughnessey, longtime voice of Sonic the Hedgehogs buddy Tails, will be voicing the character in the upcoming Sonic drama episode. She joins Ben Schwartz, who speaks the hedgehog, and Idris Elba, who previously announced she will speak Knuckles the Echidna. Tails was teased at the very end of the first movie – and also in the first teaser for the sequel, which was revealed last February.
Take my old buddy Tails for another adventure. I am pleased to announce that I have the voice of Miles “Tails” Prower in. am # SonicMovie2! I can’t wait to see him on the big screen.

While it may not seem surprising that O’Shaughnessey says Tails in the film, having done so since 2014 (and in the post-credits stinger of the Sonic the Hedgehog film), many voice actors don’t repeat their roles when the video game is played or the cartoon makes it big screen. For example, Chris Pratt was recently revealed as the voice of Mario in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie, while Charles Martinet, the man who has spoken Mario since the 1990s, will only play a minor role. It suggests a bigger trend of Casting recognizable celebrities in animations
The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie came out on February 14, 2020 – after it was delayed from the first trailer due to massive outcry over Sonic’s design. Despite this initial visceral reaction to the first trailer, the film did well at the box office and received mostly positive reviews. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will hit theaters on April 8, 2022.
