The Elden Ring, which has been awarded Game of the Year several times, is still waiting for the big DLC ”Shadow of the Erdtree” – but there may now really be light at the end of the tunnel. The rumors of a February release could come true.
It’s been quite a long time since the big DLC ”Shadow of the Erdtree” for the action blockbuster Elden Ring was announced, but we still have to wait for a publication and even the official confirmation of the release date. Rumors recently pointed to a release in February 2024 – and maybe that could actually happen!
There is now reason to believe that there is a fresh update to the Steam version of Elden Ring. The files there have now been subjected to an update and now have a concrete reference to a DLC package. This could definitely be interpreted as preparation for an imminent release of “Shadow of the Erdtree”.
The Twitter-User Ziostorm came across the new references to a DLC pack. These are called “SteamDB Unknown App 2778580” and were added to Steam a few days ago. The file size and other details are not yet publicly available. Since nothing else has been announced about Elden Ring, it can generally be assumed that this refers to the large additional content.
In December last year, an advertisement for a Thrustmaster controller with an Elden Ring theme appeared in this context. The peripheral is scheduled to be released in February 2024 – and at the time it was said to be “in line with the launch of Shadow of the Erdtree”. There are increasing signs from the current Steam update that there was definitely something to the leak back then.
However: The official announcement of the release date of “Shadow of the Erdtree” is still pending. The game also celebrates its two-year anniversary on February 25th – so there couldn’t be a more appropriate time for the big expansion for From Software, right?
