Motive, the Montreal studio of Electronic Arts, today revealed all the details of dead space, the remake of the sci-fi survival horror classic, complete with the first gameplay trailer. True to the exciting vision of the original game, dead space was completely rebuilt from scratch with Frostbite engine for new consoles and PCs. Delivering enhanced sound and crisp, chilling visuals that have been painstakingly redesigned for a new level of immersion and quality.
Players will also find that there’s more to explore aboard USG Ishimura this time as they bring the story to life with newly added narrative elements. The ship will have players questioning their own sanity as they delve deeper and begin to uncover its secrets. Fighting for survival with monstrous fears stalking them at every turn.
dead space place the players in the boots of isaac clark, an ordinary engineer on a routine mission to repair a large mining ship, the USG Ishimura. Inside her, a complete nightmare awaits her. The ship’s crew was slaughtered and infected, Isaac’s girlfriend, Nicole, disappeared somewhere on board. Trapped and with only his tools and engineering skills, Isaac faces a battle for survival. And not only against terrifying monsters called Necromorphosbut also against his crumbling sanity.
Gameplay improvements
- The skinning system. Monstrosities unlike anything you know, Necromorphs have been rebuilt based on the new skinning system. This one introduces layers of flesh, sinew, and bone that rip, tear, and destroy in shocking new ways. And while strategy is key, players will also have more and more opportunities to unleash their creativity in how they use their variety of weapons and unique abilities to battle these gruesome foes.
- The Intensity Director. The beautifully designed and equally haunting world of dead space
- Improved Fantasy Engineering. With no weapons or backup, Isaac is forced to defend himself against the Necromorphs by taking advantage of high-tech mining tools. You’ll be able to strategically dismember creatures, solve puzzles on your exciting journey, and take advantage of loopholes in Ishimura’s systems. Originally featuring a silent protagonist, players will now hear more about the beloved engineer through new narrative additions voiced by Gunner Wright, Isaac’s original voice actor in Dead Space 2 (2011) and Dead Space 3 (2013).
- A fully networked Ishimura. From the opening screen to the end credits, players will brave the narrow, shadowy hallways of USG Ishimura without a single loading screen or camera cutout to interrupt the immersion. This huge mining ship has been restored for this new version with new rooms, routes and obstacles. While enabling smooth navigation with new UI controls on the map and an improved locator.
I’ve traveled to worlds you’d never believe, ended up with enemies that elude all mysticism. I felt my pulse quicken with each battle, and the sigh of someone who knows they will have to get back up. There’s always a villain waiting and an adventure around the corner.
