Discreetly and without notice, Microsoft released the March 2024 Update. An update that no one expected and that we sincerely wish for we don’t know anything because at the moment there is no changelog and we don’t know exactly what is in it.
The update is currently rolling out to users around the world, so we’re ruling out it being a staggered update. Overall we can expect overall improvements in performance and stability.
What’s new in the March 2024 update for Xbox
Regarding what the update includes, at the moment we can only benefit from the latest updates that arrive in the Insider program, it does not matter, and perhaps this is why Microsoft has not not yet published changelog.
This is version: 10.0.25398.3864 (xb_flt_2403zn.240306-1700) of the operating system. Below is what we know Xbox Insiders have tested that should probably be included in this update:
- Screenshot improvements: Users will now see a system notification after uploading a new screenshot or game clip to OneDrive if they are running low on space.
- Xbox Wireless Controller: New version of Xbox Wireless Controller firmware that includes improvements to unexpected disconnections when using wired headphones.
- Microsoft Edge – Sidebar: To improve stability, all major first-party apps will be removed, including Copilot Chat, Outlook, Teams, Games, and the ability to add websites to the sidebar as well as the Settings section. Essential shopping and browsing features are still available.
- Improved power saving mode: Power saving mode now offers more flexible automatic shutdown options. You can choose how long you want your console to remain idle before turning off.
The update should happen automatically as soon as you start the console. If not, make sure to turn off the console completely (press and hold the power button until the console turns off).
