It ended up being canceled on Xbox consoles.
For months and months we hear about a battle royale game based on Halo Infinite. It has never been formally recognized by Xbox, but some prominent sources have spoken about it several times. NOW, an official LinkedIn description shed additional light on its development.
Mike Clopper, design director at Raven Software studioshared these little tidbits about the game while working with developer Certain Affinity:
“MP Halo Infinite: I led a large team of designers working on a canceled Battle Royale mode for Halo. I think this product could have changed the franchise and the industry. We loved playing it and working on it was a fantastic experience despite its cancellation.“
This is a completely sincere and interesting admission. Unfortunately, the spin-off was canceled and we will have to see what plans “Halo Studios” have for the future of the series.
These future plans include several titles that use Epic Games technology, so you never know, some sort of Battle Royale-style Halo could come out one day. One thing we know is that a Halo Infinite 2, which was supposed to be in development before the move to Unreal Engine 5, will be another of the abandoned titles on Xbox.
