As nice as it is that Baldur’s Gate III is now also available on the Xbox Series X/S, the version isn’t running quite smoothly yet. For example, many users complained about save games being lost. Uncomfortable in a game of this size. Now the Larian development studio speaks out and reveals how you can get around the problems.
These are golden times for Larian Studios. Not only is the role-playing epic Baldur’s Gate III extremely well received by fans, it even won the coveted title of Game of the Year at the Game Awards last week.
But that’s not all, the developers had an additional surprise in store: Immediately after the award ceremony, you could also download Baldur’s Gate III on your Xbox Series X/S. Until then it was only available on the PlayStation 5 and the PC.

But unfortunately the version for Microsoft’s console is currently plagued by nasty errors. So crashes keep happening, which would be somewhat bearable. However, a bug that deletes your save games is unforgivable.
The studio is aware of the problems and is working hard on fixes. A new patch at least provides stability improvements, but does not completely eliminate the problems. But Larian loved you and announced via X (formerly Twitter) how you can largely avoid the save game bug.
The solution is very easy: Microsoft has released a system update for the Xbox that is explicitly intended to help with the problems in Baldur’s Gate III. Larian advises you to install this manually via the system settings. This dedication alone shows how important the game is to the Xbox community.
Be warned, however, the error has not yet been completely resolved. So if you really want to be on the safe side, then it might be smarter to wait.
