Everyone should have noticed by now that the signs at Hogwarts Legacy are pointing to hits – despite all the Rowling controversies. In any case, the game is really taking off, even before release.
Actually, Hogwarts Legacy isn’t even on the market yet, because the actual release isn’t until Friday. Unless, of course, you have secured 3-day early access with the Deluxe Edition, so you can gamble with it since yesterday evening. Apparently many players have taken advantage of this, because the game is already in the Top 5 most played titles
A whopping 326,609 players are already romping around in Hogwarts, and the trend is rising, which means 5th place in the most played titles behind the usual suspects (CS:GO, Dota 2, PUBG and Apex Legends). A damn strong performance for the fact that the game is not really there yet. One can safely assume that this mark will easily be broken again on the weekend after the actual release.
Not that it’s a big surprise – the hype surrounding the game is immense, the game has been at the top of the wish lists for weeks and is already at the top of the top sellers list on Steam. How the game will be received is difficult to say at the moment, because the reviews on Steam will not be activated until the release and there are first reports that the PC version is not yet running smoothly and is very hungry in terms of graphics memory.
Based on 52 reviews so far, the game has a strong rating of 86 on Metacritic, and our tester also fell in love with the game a little, even if it’s not perfect, of course, and maybe even a little overambitious. The controversy surrounding Potter author JK Rowling’s transphobic comments, which has been raging for months, doesn’t seem to be having a noticeable impact on the game’s sales figures.
