Cloud gaming is enjoying growing popularity thanks to Microsoft’s cloud gaming service and GeForce NOW, among other things. Now such services are also coming to platforms that pretty much everyone has at home.
Microsoft announced some time ago that it would bring its own cloud gaming service, the Xbox Game Pass, to televisions. NVIDIA has already taken GeForce NOW one step further. LG Electronics (LG) announced a partnership with NVIDIA to become the first TV maker to develop a GeForce NOW smart TV app for LG TVs with webOS.
GeForce Now is currently available on NVIDIA SHIELD, Windows PC, macOS, Chrome OS, Android, and Safari browsers for iPhone and iPad. With GeForce NOW, gamers can start their game on their own LG TVs and continue on almost any device they own.
The app is available as a beta version in the LG Content Store on selected LG 4K OLED, QNED MiniLED and NanoCell TV models from 2021. The app enables LG TV owners with compatible TVs to immediately enjoy over 35 free-to-play games with a compatible controller without the need for additional hardware.
The games include Rocket League and Destiny 2, as well as hit titles like Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Crysis Remastered Trilogy, all of which can be played with a resolution of up to 1080px and 60 frames per second.
