Game news SIFU: Two stunning videos describe the game’s progress and struggles
Sloclap developers announced the good news today: SIFU is releasing earlier than expected, from a release stuck on February 22nd to a launch now slated for February 8th. And since good news never comes alone, the teams are offering us two new videos on two aspects of the game: progress and battle!
To accompany this rather surprising announcement these days, the Paris-based developers of Sloclap came up with us a little trailer that went to the essentials, rewarded us with some excerpts from powerful fights and even allowed itself a nod to the progression mechanics of the game, which makes your character age after each death by taking the opposite path
Knowing our hunger in the face of this brief extract, The Sloclap teams therefore offered us a double dose of gameplay to better understand the mechanics of the game, including the progression system that takes on both rogue-lite and combat aspects as it prepares to pass. gold »!
Are you going to take some kung fu with you?
The first published excerpt, available at the beginning of the article, details the game’s progression system. Kung Fu is an art tamed by persistence and practice, and it is precisely this aspect of the martial art that comes to life in the rogue-lite mechanics of the title. In the prime of life, your character must progress by eliminating areas overcrowded with enemies, but if they overwhelm you, you will die. Well, in principle.
You can cheat death and return to life with your antique pendant. But all of this comes at a price, your life expectancy even as you get more powerful.. This decreases so much with death that you may die by the age of 45 and reappear as a 49 year old student. However, death is not inevitable, on the contrary: Experience points can be spent with each death to acquire skills and thus become stronger.
You don’t have to wait for one of your mistakes to fortify yourself, however: within your course are scattered Shrines that allow you to acquire new techniques and skills to specialize your fighting style. Between missions Training rooms serve as a break between two fights to develop your martial art.
SIFU’s environment is a weapon!
Even so, unlocking skills and gaining power won’t save you from some situations. Like any good homage to kung fu films, SIFU aims to reproduce action scenes that are particularly high-pitched.
In your luggage of techniques You can rely on a whole range of holds and punches, but sometimes improvisation and adapting to the environment are key to getting the upper hand over your opponents. The key is to stay focused and build a solid defense that, thanks to the parrying system, will get you out of dangerous situations by giving you the opportunity to knock out a few more thugs.
But we mustn’t forget that the best defense remains the attack and the gameplay of SIFU illustrates this brilliantly with the help of a special mechanic, the focus, as with this you can execute a devastating blow on an enemy with millimeter precision : enough to reverse the trend in the event of a problem! Demanding, nervous and very fluid – the game promises clear and precise action at 60 frames per second -, SIFU enough to leave us on the sidelines with so much energy and challenge!
