news hardware You’ll never guess what the French’s favorite password is, and that’s a shame!
Every year it’s ours and we await with undisguised impatience, ranking the most popular passwords country by country is always a very rewarding experience.
The French have a very cute password, but with no security
This year we are provided with the study of ExpressVPN, one of the most important VPN providers, together with Surfshark, CyberGhost and NordVPN, the world leader in this sector. And the least we can do is let it have its share of more or less sweet surprises in store for us.
Without surprise, the world champion in each category remains the famous “12345” and its variants “123456” or the incredible “12345678”. Then, at international level, comes the timeless “QWERTY”, while in France, unsurprisingly, we have the right to the regional stage, the famous “AZERTY”, resulting from the layout of our keys on ISO-FR keyboards. A Franco-French specialty that we like.
By excluding those generic passwords that we find absolutely everywhere and that don’t represent originality, ExpressVNP has provided us with a world map of the most used passwords country by country, and some are really funny.
That’s all well and good, but what’s the French’s favorite password, according to this new study? Well, as surprising as it is, our own password is “doudou”
Among the original and cute passwords we discover thatin the USA the champion of the year is “iloveyou”, in England it is the first name “ashley” that dominates the debates, while in Italy and Croatia passion for football stands out, since the most popular passwords in these two countries are “Juventus” and “Dinamo” respectively.
Still in Europe we will note the welcome of our Dutch friends with a little “Welkom”, the practicality of the Germans with the very classic “Password” or even the effective “Webhompass” voted jointly by Norwegians and Danes.
If all of this makes us smile, it’s actually sad to see that the common point between all of these passwords is their very weak security. As a reminder: A valid password must be at least 8 characters long and contain upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters.
Ideally, choose a different password for each of the pages you visit. For this reason, most browsers offer a unique and complex password when registering. Don’t hesitate to use it. They remain the best bulwark against invaders of all kinds.
